OUR STORY
Welcome to Ontario Tiny Homes, a site specifically devoted to plans for tiny houses, detached accessory dwelling units, coach houses, and laneway suites. Whatever you decide to call it, there has been a movement brewing for people asking for a new way of living. The Province of Ontario has responded by enacting legislation that sets the framework for municipalities across the province to change their zoning bylaws to allow for these detached accessory dwelling units.
PLANNED WITH PURPOSE
You may be asking, why us and how are we different? Ontario Tiny House Plans is operated by our parent company, MW Drafting & Design inc, an architectural design firm from Simcoe, Ontario. Our team members come with a diverse background of experience, including; a building inspector and plans examiner working with several large municipalities, a consultant with a private code consulting firm providing training, plans examination and inspection support, a financial expert providing strong administrative support experience, and some well educated, eager junior team members who are ready and able to help. We provide architectural design and drafting services for homeowners, contractors, builders and property developers. Our passion for sustainability, strong technical knowledge and site experience provide a holistic design experience for our customers.
The cost for custom home design doesn't translate well to the small form factor of the detached accessory dwelling unit (tiny house). Ontario Tiny House Plans leveraged the experience provided by MW Drafting & Design and consulted with interior designers, architects and tiny house lifestyle consultants to ensure our designs are not just pleasing to the eye and functional, but compliant with a municipality's building codes, zoning bylaws and offer a unique living experience for those looking for a detached accessory dwelling unit for their property.
The end result of all this preparation and research is a set of design and construction drawings for you to build the home yourself, or provide to a contractor. We can also guide you through the site plan application and building permit application process so the end result of the purchase of a stock tiny home plan from Ontario Tiny House Plans, is a building permit so you can get started on your project smoothly and efficiently!
All plans purchased from Ontario Tiny House plans are stamped by a BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) qualified design firm, registered with the Province of Ontario. This means that after working with us, you leave with a set of drawings and the confidence that you can use them for a building permit and construction anywhere in Ontario.
